Dosage is the weight/volume/number or quantity of drug consumed at any one time. Zoloft (Generic name: sertraline hydrochloride) comes in the form of film coated tablet and oral concentrate.
Zoloft dosage in the case of Adults suffering from Major Depressive Disorder and Obsessive – Compulsive Disorder is 50 mg once daily. In cases of Panic Disorder, Post traumatic stress disorder and Social anxiety disorder, Zoloft treatment should be initiated with a Zoloft dosage of 25 mg once daily and then increased to 50 mg once daily after a week.
For patients suffering from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, under the supervision of a physician, the initial Zoloft dosage can be 50 mg once daily (morning or evening) either till the end of menstrual cycle or maybe limited to the luteal phase of menstrual cycle.
Zoloft Dosage in the case of Pediatric Population: In cases of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder; Zoloft dosage is 25mg once daily in children aged 6 – 12 and 50 mg once daily in adolescents aged 13 – 17. If required the Zoloft dosage can be increased up to a maximum of 200 mg per day. For children with OCD, their body weight is an important factor that needs to be considered prior to deciding the Zoloft dosage.

Zoloft and MAOI (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor): A time interval of at least 14 days should be maintained before a patient taking Zoloft switches to MAOI and vice versa.
Some Pregnant women who took Zoloft dosage during their third trimester have had to have respiratory support, tube feeding and have even resulted in prolonged hospitalization. Hence a tapered usage of Zoloft is recommended under strict supervision of the physician. The physician should greatly consider the potential pros and cons before deciding on the dosage of Zoloft.
Zoloft Oral Concentrate should be diluted before use by mixing it either with water, or lemon soda, lemonade, orange juice or ginger ale and no other liquids and should be taken immediately.
